Summer Programs 2015
We are excited to run Animate Your Imagination, and Call the Shots at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. Our team of instructors and mentors are really pumped to meet you this summer, and get you behind the camera to have fun and make content that matters to you! This is the summer of Grrl Power!

We have a full lineup of programs this summer in partnership with the Seattle Public Library with 6 programs throughout Seattle (sign-up here), You Grow Girl! Animate Her (sign-up here), Snohomish YMCA, and two camps at our home base at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center (sign-up here).

Have you ever wondered how they make your favorite cartoon show or movie? Work in teams to use clay, paper, puppets, whiteboards, toys, and anything you can dream up to create an animated world! This week’s theme Grrl Power! Are you tired of hearing from people what girls can do or not do? Here is your chance to show the world what Grrl Power looks like to you.

Skills you will learn: storyboarding, scriptwriting, team work, acting/directing, using a camera, editing.

Dates: Aug 3rd – 7th, 2015// 10AM-4PM
Location: Youngstown at 4408 Delridge Way SW, Seattle, WA
Who can apply: Female, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth ages 9-14
Prerequisites: No previous video production or animation experience required!

FULL – CURRENTLY HAVE A WAITING LIST

“Lights, Camera, Action!”  Call the shots and learn the ropes of filmmaking in a girl-centric environment. Learn how to put together own short film. You will be guided through storyboarding, scriptwriting, professional cameras, lighting, and editing.

Skills you will learn: storyboarding, scriptwriting, team work, acting/directing, using a camera, editing.

Dates: Aug 10th – 14th, 2015// 10AM-4PM
Location: Youngstown at 4408 Delridge Way SW, Seattle, WA
Who can apply: Female, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth ages 13-19
Prerequisites: No previous video production or animation experience required!


Registration, deposits & waivers
In order to secure a spot for your student you must: register on-line (www.reelgrrls.org/programs) or via phone 206-375-1132, make a full payment or non-refundable deposit of $50 (full payment must be received 14 days in advanced of the class), and signed liability & medical waiver.  We can take checks made payable to Reel Grrls, or credit card payments. All programs are subject to change or cancellation due to low enrollment.

Tiered fees & Scholarships
Reel Grrls programs are tiered to reflect the full cost, subsidies, and scholarships. Families can choose the level that meets their budgets. Please note there is typically a $50 scholarship fee that is refundable after the completion of the class for those that need full scholarships. Payment plans and discounts are available if you have multiple youth or sign-up for multiple programs. All program fees and deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable within 14 days of the program start date.

    Hi! Someone shared your program with us last summer, but our schedule didn’t allow for our daughters to sign up for one of your camps. Will you be doing camps in summer 2016. Any chance you might do one in the north end?
