Seattle Premiere of HONEYGLUE – June 17th
Created by an up-and-coming film collective called Zombot Pictures, HONEYGLUE is a love story about Morgan, a young woman who has turned her conservative, protected life upside-down after learning she has only three months to live, and Jordan, the rebellious gender-defying artist who steals her heart and gives her a glimpse of a new life. The film is written and directed by Ojibwe Nation filmmaker James Bird and stars Adriana Mather (also one of the film’s producers), whose tour-de-force performance as Morgan has earned much critical praise.
>>Buy tickets for the Seattle premiere on Friday, June 17th at SIFF Film Center – 50% of proceeds will benefit Reel Grrls.
Every Row a Path screening – June 26th
In 2011, Reel Grrls partnered with the DreamFields project in Mt. Vernon, WA to bring migrant youth to our program in Seattle where five youth made their first films. In 2015, in collaboration with Reel Grrls and filmmaker Jill Freidberg, those same five young migrant women set out to document their lives as young adults about to graduate high school. They wanted to educate others about the challenges of being young, female, and migrant in Washington State’s Skagit Valley. Join us for a community screening and discussion of this powerful film for an inside look at the personal stories of Ana, Cilviana, Teresa, Martha and Lucia.
