Free Workshops in Partnership with local Libraries!

Reel Grrls loves libraries because they provide access to information and champion knowledge for all.

We are proud to be working with both King County Library System and Seattle Public Libraries for the fourth summer in a row to bring our award winning media making programs into the community for FREE!

These library workshops provide young people with a space to connect with others and learn tools that they have at home to exercise their first amendment!

Reel Grrls started before YouTube, and we are so happy that young people these days live in a time where media making and distribution is democratized. With more access and ways to express yourself we also will cover topics on being a positive digital citizen that knows how to spot fake news, and also create media that is responsible. We hope these community workshops will spark an interest for young people to continue to be critical of the media, and to know that they can also author media to share with the world!

This summer we will be offering three different workshops:

  • Making Media that Matters is geared towards young people who care about issues, and want to spread the word!
  • Present Your Best Selfie! helps you people learn about taking good stills / videos, and also explores what it looks like to put yourself out their on the web.
  • YouTube It! provides the basics on how to use YouTube as a content creator.

Thanks to both King County Library System and Seattle Public Libraries for working with us so we can be out in the community, working with young people to build their digital literacy and learn new ways of working with the technology that they already have in their hands! Take a look at the schedule below, and contact the libraries directly to sign-up for programs!
